Bridge 4 Learning is a student-led nonprofit organization founded by three high schoolers in the Houston area who recognized a growing need in their community.
Each summer, elementary students often lose motivation and access to academic support, resulting in a significant decline in learning. According to a study of 18 million first- through sixth-grade students published in the American Educational Research Journal, students can lose up to 40% of a school year’s learning during the summer break. This learning loss not only slows long-term academic progress but also creates challenges when students return to school in the fall.
To address this issue, Bridge 4 Learning offers free, virtual tutoring for elementary students. Through regular online sessions with high school tutors, we help young learners build confidence and strengthen the foundational skills they need for the upcoming school year.
For our volunteers, we provide certified volunteer hours as recognition of their service and dedication.
